October 19th, 2014 - I apologize for the wait, but I have finally gotten around to compiling the results from the State meet this last Saturday. Below are links to both the girls and boys complete individual and team results. Additionally, I have attached the POSTED and ONGOING results that I track. Remember that these include all the results for the whole season.
Girls Results & Boys Results from the SIJHSAA Website.
A couple things I wanted to highlight from the race on Saturday...
Quick thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Sliment for supplying the kids with bottled water, granola/energy bars, bananas, clementines, and almonds for the bus ride and race on Saturday. The kids and I certainly appreciate it and it was very thoughtful. Thanks again!
The girls had a great day and took home our very first Girls Team SIJHSAA state title!! HUGE accomplishment girls, Congratulations! Running for the girls, Jenna Schwartz (3rd), Ella King (7th), Colleen Sliment (13th), Allie Tuttle (22nd), Sydney Haddick (31st), Laurin Lunk (56), Grace Daab (63).
The boys also had a strong team effort against some very tough competition and took home a hard-earned 3rd place trophy! Their performance earned all 7 boys an individual state medal! Running for the boys, Eli Ward (3rd), Sam Kreinberg (8th), David Lewis (20th), Matt Dawson (27th), Kyle Stewart (30th), Logan VanBritson (40th), Will Hicks (50th).
IMPRESSIVE SHOWING BY THE WATERLOO JH CROSS COUNTRY BULLDOGS AT THE SIJHSAA STATE MEET!!! It's safe to say that the expectations of this team have been on the rise and the bar has been set. These kids are setting their own goals and setting the standard for those to follow them in the future. Thank you runners!
I have one Adult Small team tshirt that I was unclaimed from the meet on Saturday. There is nothing written in it. Also, someone is missing her team tshirt (it's an X-Small, with her initials written on the inside bottom front of the shirt, "CS"). Would everyone mind checking their shirts to see if they picked up the wrong one? If so, I may have your shirt.
UNIFORM TURN-IN: On Wednesday of this week during study hall/after school, I will be having a little pizza party in the cafeteria for all the kids as an opportunity to celebrate the end of the season AND turn in their uniforms. Admission to the pizza party will be a CLEAN jersey AND shorts. Please help your runner remember to have these ready on Wednesday. This makes collecting 40+ uniforms a lot easier if everyone gets them in at the same time. I appreciate your help in this.
FINALLY, I want to THANK all the parents, teachers, coaches, administrators, custodians, secretaries, students, friends, families that supported our teams in one way or another (or several). The success that these kids have experienced wouldn't be possible without the support and sacrifice of these people and more along the way. My job wouldn't be possible without it either. I can't thank you all enough for everything this season from a "way to go" to washing uniforms to outfitting the kids with plenty of food and water on those early Saturdays. Every season is special for different reasons and this one was no different. Thank you all so much and please feel free to contact me in the future with any questions or concerns.

October 14th, 2014 - Highland Invitational Results that were sent to me are linked below. Our specific team results can be found in the ONGOING file above. Both the boys and girls teams were able to come away with team wins on an extremely, rainy, muddy, wet evening. Hope they had fun and those uniforms aren't too tough to clean!

October 9th, 2014 - The WJHS Cross Country team traveled to Troy, Illinois for the Triad Jamboree Invitational. This is a unique meet as our boys and girls varsity teams joined to make two co-ed teams in the Red and White races. Our kids ran well! Our team took 2nd place in the Red race and our other team took 1st in the White race. After the results for these two races are tabulated, the scores are combined from both and an Overall team award is given for the lowest score. Our overall team took 2nd place to the Champion-Host team Triad, trailing them by a mere 3 points!! Nice job to both teams and let's keep working hard as we finish out our season! Next up is the Highland Invitational (our last regular meet of the season)!
October 4th, 2014 - I apologize for the delay with results and information about last Saturday's Pre-State Meet in Benton. Attached, you will find the POSTED & ONGOING results as usual for our own team results. I apologize as there are several of the times from the Open race that I did not get because our kids were finishing in such a tight group. I was able to estimate some of the times based on their places and the times that I did actually get. However, a few were too far apart to estimate. I apologize for this. I did, however, get everyone's places in the open race besides one. In addition to these results, you can check out the full race results for individuals as well as teams on the Benton Site.
Our kids ran very well on Saturday. We represented Waterloo well in the biggest race of the year. The girls took a solid 2nd place out of 23 teams and the boys took a respectable 4th place finish out of 22 teams. The girls are not far from that first place team and I think that if all the girls have a good race, we can take the top spot when we go back to Benton. The boys were 1 point from 3rd place and 19 points from 2nd place. I KNOW they are capable of taking home a 2nd place trophy in 2 weeks. I saw a lot of good things this weekend and I believe that we are well prepared for these last 2 weeks.
I want to send a quick thanks to Mr. & Mrs. Heinen (parents of Eddie Heinen-6th grader) for supplying the team with bottled water, granola bars, and clementines for the meet on Saturday. It was a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated by the kids. Also, thanks to everyone for coming out to support their runners on such a far trip. It makes a big difference when we are so far away.
Thursday, we are traveling to Troy, Illinois for the Triad Jamboree. This is another large invitational with several teams, but it is set up a little differently. This meet will have a Red race and a White race instead of Boys & Girls Varsity races. Both races will be made up of co-ed varsity boys and girls. I will be putting a few boys and a few girls together in each race. The open race will be the same as usual. I'll be sending out rosters and more details tomorrow.

October 2, 2014 - Below are the complete results for our Home Meet on 9/30/14. In this excel file, are individual results for both boys and girls as well as team results for both boys and girls. Not all coaches turned in complete results so there are definitely some gaps, but this is what I have.

September 30th, 2014 - I apologize in advance, but this is going to be brief...
I have attached the POSTED results and the ONGOING results for tonight's home meet. I am still working on the OVERALL results which will include all of the other teams and the team scores and will send those out when I finish them. I do have our own team scores tallied and in the results that are posted. Both teams did well tonight and won very easily. Our girls had a perfect score of 15 points and our boys missed the same perfect score by 1 point giving them 16 points and both teams the win tonight. Times were a little slow tonight, but that'll happen with less runners to push our kids and an especially warm day considering how cool it has been as of lately.
I want to take a moment to extend an enormous "THANK YOU" to all of our parents, coaches, maintenance, athletic director, administrators, secretaries, and runners for making the meet tonight a possibility, for making it run smoothly and for making our team so well represented. I can't thank everyone enough for the support throughout the year and especially for our home meet. Everyone's willingness to help is extremely appreciated and makes me feel very lucky. Thank you all so much and thanks for helping Waterloo Cross Country be so well represented at the meet today with family/friends fan support. It was awesome.
Reminder, there will not be any practice tomorrow and everyone will be traveling to Benton with us on Saturday morning.

September 23rd, 2014 -I received the official results from Edwardsville Lincoln late this afternoon so I wanted to get them out to everyone as quick as possible. I went ahead and compiled our team results on the typical POSTED and ONGOING forms, as usual and they are both attached. However, I've also attached the full official results that were sent to me from Edwardsville. These results are really nice and show you a lot of information for every single race (individuals & teams). Feel free to check them out and see how the teams did.
As you can see from the results, our kids had a pretty good night. Our Varsity girls team ran very tough and were able to scare some big Edwardsville schools. I have been impressed with how well our girls have competed this year, particularly against these bigger schools. I'm excited for what the rest of the season may hold for them. The girls took 2nd place out of 14 teams, and out JV girls took 6th out of 10 teams!
Our varsity boys ran well, but I know they can do better. We had two boys (Sam Kreinberg and David Lewis) crack the 12:00 barrier for 2 miles and that is a notable performance. Sam ran 11:42 and David ran 11:53, giving the boys a sub 6-minute average per mile. Despite these good times we found ourselves just a little bit lower in the rankings than we'd hoped. The Varsity boys finished 6th out of 14 teams and our JV boys took 5th out of 13 teams!
Great job to everyone on Tuesday night and lets keep up the good work. One final reminder that we do NOT have our home meet tomorrow as it has been rescheduled for next Tuesday (9/30). We will be having practice as usual tomorrow and NO PRACTICE on Friday since there is only a half day for students.
We handed out team shirts tonight at practice. I would suggest everyone mark their shirts in some way (initials with a permanent marker, etc.) since it is easy for them to get mixed up at a meet or elsewhere.

September 19th, 2014 - Click HERE to see pictures from last night's meet in O'Fallon in addition to the pictures from Alton. Photos are compliments of the Sliments! Thanks and enjoy!
September 18th, 2014 -Once again, the Bulldogs ran well on both sides tonight! Our runners returned to O'Fallon Carriel tonight to race and it seemed like everyone improved from their first race out of the season 1.5 weeks ago. I worked our kids hard on Monday and Tuesday of this week and expected them to race with tired legs. You wouldn't have been able to tell by watching the race.
Our girls team took 1st place again tonight out of 5 teams, repeating their victory from last weeks meet. The girls had an impressively low score of 27 points to win easily over the 2nd place team, Carriel. Our girls were, once again, led by a dominating Jenna Schwartz who beat the rest of the field by 20+ seconds. With a score of 27 points, you know that the rest of the girls all finished low, too! Our top 7 were rounded out with Ella King (3rd), Syd Haddick (5th), Colleen Sliment (6th), Allie Tuttle (12th), Laurin Lunk (20th), and Ashley Hartman (21st). THIS GROUP OF GIRLS IS TOUGH!
Our boys team made a huge improvement from last weeks showing, going from 4th to 1st as a team (out of 5 teams tonight), scoring 44 points. The boys stole the victory tonight from a very very tough O'Fallon Fulton team, besting them by ONLY 1 POINT. The O'Fallon Carriel boys were close behind with 63 points. It's going to be a close race between these 3 teams as well as others, all year. I've said it before and I'll say it again, that this team looks a lot like our team from last year. These boys PACK IT UP. Sam Kreinberg led our boys for the 2nd race in a row (4th place) with David Lewis finishing right behind him for the 2nd race in a row (5th place). Our top 7 were rounded out with Eli Ward (10th), Matt Dawson (11th), Will Hicks (14th), Kyle Stewart (15th), and Logan VanBritson (22nd).
Congratulations to both teams on a great week of practice, and a great race tonight. Next week, we go to Edwardsville on Tuesday (9/23) and we host our sole home meet of the season on Thursday (9/25).
I have attached the POSTED results (classic/simple format) and the ONGOING results (includes all of the seasons stats to this point). Feel free to check them out. I also got the official Alton Invite results and I'll be posting them to my website.
One important announcement, there will be NO PRACTICE tomorrow (Friday 9/19). The kids have worked really hard this week and they could probably use a extra day away from my voice. Please encourage them to run once or twice this weekend. Also, there will be no practice NEXT Friday (9/26) as we have a half day of school. I will send out a reminder about that next week.

Here are the "official" results from the Alton Invite on (9/11).
September 11th, 2014 -Tonight, our runners experienced a race that they have, more than likely, never experienced before! The boys & girls traveled to Alton, Illinois for the Alton Invitational where there were about 16 teams competing for both the boys and girls races. As if the course in Alton isn't tough by itself with several hills and challenging terrain, but the temperature dropped significantly from what we are all used to and the course was EXTREMELY wet and muddy from the previous nights rain.
Our girls team put on an impressive performance with Jenna Schwartz leading the group. Jenna was edged out for the individual title and took 2nd place by seconds. The rest of our girls filed in with awesome races and tallied a low 61 points, good enough for 2nd place and a trophy to prove it! Our girls were only 15 points behind a tough Edwardsville team.
Our boys team took the girls race and the tough conditions as motivation to put on a show. Knowing that the boys race was going to be tight near the top our guys put down solid efforts. We had 3 boys (Sam Kreinberg, David Lewis, and Eli Ward) go 9th, 10th, 11th for us. That's an great job on their part to pack it up! Those three led the rest of the boys varsity to 88 points and a 2nd place trophy, as well! The boys were only beat by a very tough Edwardsville team.
Attached are MY results. Keep in mind that my results are unofficial as I collect them with my watch as the kids are finishing and I write them as quick as I can as not to miss anyone. The hosting team will send me official results eventually, but this is what we have for now (they should be close to the official). Remember the first is the POSTED results which are plain and simple. The second is the ONGOING results which will contain all the stats for the season up to this point.
Thanks to all the parents, family, friends that made the drive, endured the weather and go muddy with us while supporting the Bulldogs! I apologize to all for the kids getting so ridiculously muddy. It was fun though!
On a side note: I ordered the team new uniforms at the beginning of the year and they are supposed to come in tomorrow. I plan to get them tagged and numbered before I pass them out next week. Our next meet is next Thursday 9/18. I plan to pass them out so kids can wear them then. Our shirts should be delivered next week as well (sorry for the delay on these) and will be passed out as soon as I receive them. In addition, I plan to send home information about a team sweatshirt available for order to those that are interested, as soon as I have the information.

September 9th, 2014 - I, usually, like to wrap up each meet with some highlights, results, and other information. So, here it is!
I'd like to apologize for the last minute changes that were made in the race schedule and I hope nobody missed anything as a result. As a result of the weather, the hosting coach decided to run only two races (one boys, one girls). I hope everyone received that information quickly enough that they were able to make necessary changes.
Our girls team ran well with a lot of front runners. Our very own Jenna Schwartz took the overall individual title for the girls to pair with the team 1st place finish. I believe the girls team can be very good if they continue to work hard and push each other to improve.
Our boys team also ran well with a lot of guys competing for those top 7 spots. We had some very good performances by many of our boys. Competing against a tough field the boys took home 4th place in a close race between a few other teams. I know that our boys can be competitive this year and that they will be able to do well.
Thank you to all the parents and family members that came out and cheered our runners on today. They appreciate it and I appreciate it, as well. I apologize to parents if it seems as though I am tough to catch at the meets but I tend to stay pretty busy getting kids times and getting myself around the course to cheer for them. I also have to collect results and place cards from kids to turn into the hosting team. In addition, I will ALWAYS leave an extra clipboard around where the Waterloo bags that is just meant for "Parent Sign-out". If you are wanting to sign your runner out so they can ride home with you, that is the best place to do it. I know that it is tough to catch me and I want it to be as easy as possible for all of you. I know most of you were able to find it tonight.
For your viewing pleasure, I have attached tonight's meet results in TWO different forms. The first one is the "POSTED" results. These are the results in a very simplified, classic version. They list the kids on our team in order of finish, as well as the team results. I post these at school the day after each meet. The second one is the "ONGOING" results. These are essentially the same results, but I will compile the results from every meet all season long on this one file. As I continue to update it, you can see how your runner has done in addition to every other runner on the team. Feel free to browse the tabs at the bottom of the excel sheet to see what kinds of information is included.
Thank you all and feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. I will send an email out tomorrow evening with information about the Alton Invite on Thursday evening.
