POSTED RESULTS *Continuously Updated* ONGOING RESULTS
October 14th, 2017 (State Meet) - Congratulations to both the boys and girls cross country teams after their performance at the SIJHSAA State Meet this weekend!
I wanted to send out results for those that couldn't make it this weekend as well as some end of the season wrap up information.

I have to mention this is the best finish I've had in 7 seasons for both teams. I've had a team get 1st and a team get 3rd in the same year, but never one get 1st and another get 2nd. Way to continue to set the bar even higher!
UNIFORM TURN-IN/PIZZA PARTY:
Thursday, October 19th during Study Hall we will have pizza party where the kids will turn in their uniforms. All the kids need to bring is a CLEAN uniform top & bottom and a drink of their choice. I will provide the pizza and a chance to celebrate the end of a great season. We'll plan to finish by the time the bus bell rings so everyone can get home the way they normally do or make to their respective practices after school.
A THANKS FROM ME TO YOU!
Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank all of you, the parents. I know that none of this is possible without amazing supportive parents/guardians. Growing up as 1 of 3 boys that were involved in a million different things how demanding it can be on the parents to make it all happen. From pick up to drop off, laundry to feeding, crying to cheering, arguing to convincing, and many more you are all there for your runners in a huge way. The support I have felt from the friends and family members of these runners has been so amazing that it makes my job (if you can call it that) even more enjoyable. This was a special season full of special performances, but the key was the runners and their families. Thank you all so much for the support and caring for your kids. I hope to see you all in the spring in track, next year in cross country and running for the team in high school!

October 10th, 2017 (Highland Invite) - CANCELLED DUE TO RAIN!
October 5th, 2017 (Triad Jamboree) - Last night we went to the Triad Jamboree. We walked away with a 1st place in the Red race, a 2nd place in the White race, and a 1st place overall when the scores were combined from both races. All of our varsity runners placed in the top 15 of their gender in their races and each earned medals. Tons of kids run PR's and earned medals in the Open race, as well. I have gone ahead and updated the POSTED and ONGOING results here.
A reminder that today is the 1st of 4 days off from practice for the kids. Please help me encourage them to keep moving over the long weekend and to run some. I encouraged them to get 2-3 days in depending on how their bodies are feeling and how much other activity they are getting in, like soccer, hockey, etc.
Our last regular season meet is on Tuesday at Highland. Information is attached for that below. Varsity rosters are posted below. I'd like to preface them with this statement about varsity spots and how the decisions are made. This time of the year it can be difficult to make decisions between 1-3 kids for varsity spots. If you have a question about any decision I've made I encourage you to follow up with me about it. Also, I encourage you to take a look at the ONGOING results form where you can look across your runner's row and see exactly where they have finished on the team in every meet for the whole season. Compare that with the other runners and see what you think. I rely on that information heavily and consider consistency as well as most recent performances.

Open Boys & Girls after Boys Varsity:
September 30th, 2017 (Benton Invitational/Pre-State) - I wanted to just send out some results real quick from the meet on Saturday in Benton. We had a great day across the board for all kids.
1. Our girls team took 3rd place out of 24 full teams with one of their best performances as a team all year long. I think this is a big step in the right direction for the girls team and I think they should look to repeat or improve this place in 2 weeks when we come back for state. The girls were led by (6th grade) Ali Kloeppel in 5th place, (8th grade) Joely Goulding in 11th place, and (6th grade) Angelynn Kanyuck in 22nd place. Not only did we have a great performance at the front, but the key to the team success was the pack of 4 girls that finished within 3 seconds of each other. Lucy Weber (38), Molly Grohmann (39), Emily Biffar (40), and Cailee Mudd (43) started together and finished together. Our 1-5 and 1-7 split was the lowest it's been all year long by a lot and that made the biggest difference!
2. Our boys team took top honors in 1st place out of 27 full teams, also with one of their best performances as a team all year long. We narrowly beat or biggest competition (Triad) by 8 points. We aren't sure if they fielded their complete squad or if they were missing one of their varsity kids. Either way, I think our boys should look to repeat this same performance in 2 weeks as we make a few necessary adjustments between now and then. The boys were led by (7th grade) Joe Schwartz in 2nd place, (8th grade) Gavin Hearren in 5th place, and (8th grade) John Mitchell in 12th place. Much like the girls team, our impressive front group was complimented very nicely by a pack of 4 runners that made the difference in the team scores. Our group of 4 finished within 24 seconds of each other with Morgan Stratton (33), Ian Schrader (36), Max Baldwin (40), and Eli Schwehr (52). I strongly believe this boys squad has as good a chance as any team to take top honors in 2 weeks as long as we make the necessary adjustments.
3. I've attached our usual POSTED results above. I will send out the ONGOING results when I finish up the team scores from our home meet. I apologize for taking so long with them, but it's a lot of data that is very time consuming and time is not a luxury I've had this last week.
4. Our next meet is at Triad on Thursday. I'll send out detailed information and rosters for that tomorrow. It's a unique meet as they do two coed varsity races which is a fun twist to the traditional racing format. The flier for it is attached for your information.
Official Results for all races can be found at the link below. They have overall individual results as well as overall team results....

September 26th, 2017 (Waterloo Home Meet) - Thank you all for coming out to support your kids on a hot/humid afternoon at our lone home meet of the season. I thought it went really well and I appreciated seeing so many familiar faces!
I've attached some preliminary results for just our team so that kids and parents could see times/places. I've only done our regular team POSTED results as it's going to take me some time to finish up the results for the meet. I'll have to go through each teams results to compile the results in the next couple days.
REMINDER: There is no practice Wednesday because I will be out of the district at a workshop. I encourage all the kids to run on their own. We will practice the rest of the week before our meet on Saturday in Benton. The bus for that leaves at 6 am from the junior high. I've attached an informational form for Saturday's meet as well. There are 5 races. We will not be entering any runners into the first two races. We will compete in the two varsity races and the joint open race at the end. These races go off at 10:00, 10:30, and 11:00. I will email out varsity rosters and other info for this meet, later this week.

September 19th, 2017 (Edwardsville Invitational) - SHOUT OUT to the Goulding parents for dropping off a cooler of waters and crackers for the kids before the bus took off yesterday afternoon. It was much appreciated!
1. I know that tonight is the Homecoming parade, and I anticipate that there will be several kids who have a parade obligation (band, StuCo, etc.). My plan is to go through a normal practice schedule and let kids who need to leave early for those obligations do so. With the parade starting at 6:00 and practice ending at 4:45 everyone should have plenty of time to get where they need to be.
2. I know that basketball tryouts are starting up next week for our 6th grade girls and all the other groups will start up over the next month. I have already emailed all basketball coaches my roster so they can let me know who signs up so that we are all aware of any overlap. I will coordinate with each coach so that any xc kid who wants to tryout will have a chance to without being punished for any tryout days missed due to xc. All coaches agree that xc takes the priority since we are in season. That being said, I am pretty flexible. For example, the 6th grade girls tryouts are Mon, Tues, Thursday of next week from 3:15-4:45. Our home meet is Tuesday so the girls will be racing that day instead of tryouts. They will go to tryouts Monday and Thursday. A similar schedule will be organized for the other groups when their dates pop up.
3. Attached above are the POSTED and ONGOING results for the meet at Edwardsville last night and the entire season up to this point. Remember, the POSTED results are always posted in the gym so that the kids can see where they are stacking up after each meet. I have decided to start highlighting the 7th place time for each group. My hope is that our kids who are finishing behind our 7th runner will start to pay attention to that time and see how far/close they are to it. That should be their goal at each meet. The girls took 5th out of 17 teams. 8th Grade Joely Goulding continues to lead the squad with a 5th place individual finish and 6th grade Ali Kloeppel continues to chase her finishing 6th place individually. Additionally, 6th grade Angelynn Kanyuck is improving each meet finishing 3rd on the team and 23rd in the race. The boys took 3rd out of 19 teams. It was a tight team finish between the top 3 teams. Triad had 72 points, Edwardsville Liberty had 81, and Waterloo had 87. We beat both the teams by and equally small margin at Alton a couple weeks ago. I do believe we are capable of beating them again and beating them when it counts, but it won't be easy. Our boys were led once again by 8th grade Gavin Hearren and 7th grade Joe Schwartz who finished 2nd and 4th and both snuck under 11:00 for 2-mile for the first time on a tough course. This is a big barrier for JH cross country and these two looked strong breaking it yesterday. 8th grade John Mitchell who is in his first year of XC had a strong 10th place finish coming off of illness last week.

September 14th, 2017 (O'Fallon Carriel) - I have updated the POSTED and ONGOING results from Thursday's meet at O'Fallon Carriel Our girls were led by Joely Goulding again to a 2nd place overall score. Our boys were led by Joe Schwartz and Gavin Hearren who went 1-2 to a team 1st place overall. I hope everyone noticed all the time improvements for our kids compared to the first race last Tuesday.
It took a little extra work, but I was able to figure out all the times and place from the Open race. There was a little confusion with some of the kids who were helping me gather finishers, but I figured it out!

September 7th, 2017 (Alton Invitational) - I'm sharing the updated results from the meet yesterday at Alton. I'll share the POSTED & ONGOING results so that you can view them in both formats. A reminder that I will continually update these and send them out after every race. Note, when comparing times that there are different race distances for each meet. Some are 1.8, some are 2.0, some are 1.86. Just be aware when you're comparing one race to another. The race distance is in the results as well as the "race distances" tab in the ONGOING results.
Teams did great last night! The girls took 5th out of 18 teams and were led by 8th grader Joely Goulding (5th place) and 6th grade stand out Ali Kloeppel (7th place)! The boys took 1st out of 19 teams and were led by 7th grade Joe Schwartz (2nd place) and 8th grade Gavin Hearren (3rd place)! The boys edged out Edwardsville Liberty in a tie that went to our 6th man (Aaron Nobbe) to break it in our favor. Edwardsville Liberty is a perennial power house and Triad is last year's state champs, so the boys team is looking good.
Thank you to all the parents for coming out to support your runners! We go back to O'Fallon Carriel next Thursday. Expect the times to be largely improved from our first meet. They always do.
Continue to contact me with any questions or concerns throughout the season. If you haven't signed up for the remind notifications you are missing alerts like, "where is the parent signout clipboard?" and "what time will the bus get back from the meets?" and "how did the kids do at the meet today?" All EXCITING stuff you don't want to miss.
Gear orders were originally promised to be delivered by Tuesday in time for our first meet and then I was told that day that they would be here by the end of the week at the latest. I just sent our rep an email to check the status. I'm hoping they are at the JH or will be by practice time so I can hand them out. My apologies for the delay as I know it is frustrating to have to wait so long.

September 5th, 2017 (O'Fallon Carriel) - I'm going to share some results from our first meet at O'Fallon Tuesday night as well as share some information for our next meet tomorrow (Thursday) in Alton at Gordon Moore Park.
1. Last night, we went to O'Fallon Carriel Middle School for our first competition. My apologies to all parents and runners as they changed the format of the meet without notifying us. There were supposed to only be 2 races (girls then boys). They decided to have a varsity girls, varsity boys, and an open girls and boys race. This in addition to a bus that was running late made it very difficult for our Varsity Girls to have an ideal race. They still did well! In fact, both teams took 2nd place to Triad who is a perennial power house. I am confident that our teams will both make the improvements to compete with Triad the many times we see them this year.
I will share results with you after all our meets this year. I will share them in two formats. Each format will contain the results for every meet up to that point in the year. I will share the POSTED document that lists results in a top to bottom fashion, with a tab for each meet. I will also share an ONGOING document that lists the results for every runner in a horizontal fashion so that you can see how each runner has done in each race throughout the entire season as well as view team results. As these are sent out, I encourage you to click around and track your runner as well as his/her teammates. Always feel free to contact me with questions or concerns.
