October 17th, 2015 - SIJHSAA State Meet @ Benton
Attached you will find the final results for the state meet and our entire season in the ONGOING & POSTED formats. Additionally, I've added the SIJHSAA link to the official results for the day below. They have individual and team results and pictures of the top 10 individuals and top 4 teams.
We definitely ended an already successful season on a high note. Both teams left the meet with a trophy! The boys took 3rd place and the girls earned 4th place. Besides Triad, who won on both sides, we were the only other team to earn a trophy for both boys and girls. The boys were led by Eli Ward who took 5th place overall and the girls were led by Colleen Sliment who took 4th place overall. Both had a great last race of their Junior High cross country career. They weren't the only ones to run well! Behind Eli was Kyle Stewart (14th), Will Hicks (17th), Jude Tepper (27th), Kobe Lavender (51st), Ian Schrader (54th), and Lucas Biffar (69th). Behind Colleen was Laurin Lunk (12th), Jade Goulding (21st), Sydney Haddick (30th), Lauren Cooper (43rd), Joely Goulding (49th), and Madi Huebner (57th). CONGRATULATIONS BULLDOGS!!

I wanted to announce that on this coming Thursday, October 22nd I will be having a uniform collection pizza party during study hall for the kids. I'll be ordering pizza for the team and their admission is a clean uniform (jersey & shorts). I'll be adding this to the morning and afternoon announcements, but if you could help them to remember to bring their clean uniform on Thursday, that'd be great!
Last, but not least, I want to thank all of you for a great season. This was my largest group of kids (45 boys & girls) that I've had and while there were times it showed, it was an awesome experience that has me hoping the team grows even bigger every year. Parents, this season and my job as a coach is not possible without the endless support you offer to your runner, their teammates and their coach. Thank you so much for everything that you have done and continue to do from washing uniforms, to picking up and dropping off, to packing food, to cheering & encouraging, to reminding and reminding and reminding. Thank you to all that offered to help in any way they could throughout the season and all that shared a kind word of encouragement along the way. I am extremely lucky to be doing what I do and a large part of that is because of the great kids that have great parents.
Thank you so much, and feel free to reach out to me in the future if you need anything. Hopefully, we'll see some of you at the track this Spring.
Thanks again,
Coach Sebestik

A couple reminders...
There is no practice today (Friday) or Monday due to the school schedule. Enjoy the long weekend and I asked the kids to run 2-3 of the 4 days they have off on their own. Nothing serious, just some easy runs.
Tuesday (10/13) is our last regular season meet. We will be traveling to Highland. After Tuesdays meet, anyone who is not running in the top 10 boys or top 10 girls, will no longer have to come to practice. I will let kids no at school on Wednesday of next week who needs to continue coming to practice. Our state meet, is next Saturday (10/17) in Benton. We will be running 7 boys in the varsity race and 7 girls in the varsity race. I will ask 3 more boys and 3 more girls to continue practicing and be prepared to race Saturday as alternates should anything happen leading up to the race that would require them to fill an opening (illness, injury, ineligibility, etc.). Any team member not in the top 10 that is wanting to ride the bus to the state meet, needs to let me know by the end of the day Wednesday.

October 3rd, 2015 - Benton Invitational
Attached you will find the updated ONGOING results as well as the updated POSTED results from the entire season, including Saturday's race in Benton. Feel free to check them out! Additionally, here are the full overall results on Benton's website...
http://www.benton47.org/education/components/scrapbook/default.php?sectiondetailid=1175&pagecat=4
Both the boys and girls had impressive showings this weekend in Benton! The girls took 3rd out of 28 teams and the boys also took 3rd out of 29 teams. With both teams walking away with a trophy, it's hard to believe, but I think they both could have been 2nd. I'm excited about how the kids are progressing, but I know they still haven't run their best. These last 2 weeks and 2 meets we will be fine tuning our strategy preparing for the state meet in Benton.
This Thursday, we travel to Triad for an invitational that is run unlike any other meet we go to. This meet has two co-ed varsity races instead of split girls and boys varsity races. This is a fun way to shake things up during the season and the kids typically enjoy it. There are two varsity races (red race & white race) and an open race. The rosters are listed as follows:
Co-ed Varsity Red Race 4:15:
Jude Tepper
Kobe Lavender
Adron Winget
Ian Schrader
Collen Sliment
Sydney Haddick
Laurin Lunk
Co-ed Varsity White Race 4:45:
Eli Ward
Will Hicks
Kyle Stewart
Jade Goulding
Lauren Cooper
Madi Huebner
Joey Goulding
Open Race 5:15:

September 29th, 2015 - Waterloo Home Meet
I want to extend a big THANK YOU to all the parents, family, friends, teachers, high school coaches, administrators, and staff that came out to the meet on Tuesday. Not only was it the most kids we've had race at home, but that has to be the largest crowd we've ever had too. It was awesome. Thank you to all the parents who volunteered to help. I had twice as many people volunteer than I needed, which is very much appreciated. The meet would not be possible without the help of our volunteers. I hope everyone had an enjoyable experience!

September 22nd, 2015 - Edwardsville Invitational
Attached you will find the ONGOING meet results as well as the POSTED meet results from last night as well as the season up to this point. In addition, I have attached a zip file of all the official results that were emailed to me from the Edwardsville coaches, last night. It's a lot of information, but you can see how each race finished up and all the team scores as well. Feel free to check them out at your leisure.
I felt out kids had a strong showing last night against a large, tough field All four of our teams finished in the top 5 teams of their races. The girls varsity was led by Sydney Haddick (14th) and Colleen Sliment (15th). Our boys varsity was led by Eli Ward who took 6th place overall. Our girls JV team was led by Grace Daab who took 8th in that race, and ran well enough to finish 5th on the girls team overall. Our boys JV team was led by Jack Garner who took 13th in that race and ran well enough to finish 6th on the boys team overall. CONGRATULATIONS to all the kids on a good night on a tough course.
Our home meet is up next! Next Tuesday, September 29th we will be hosting approximately 5 other teams for our only home meet of the year. The girls race will go off at 4:30 and the boys race will go at 5:00. Our home course follows a 2-loop route around Rogers and Gardner Elementary. I have attached a map of the course. ANYONE WHO IS WILLING TO HELP OUT, PLEASE CONTACT ME. We won't need a lot of help but having a few people out on the course where there are turns made and traffic, I'd love to have someone there to keep people on course and cars from entering.
Lastly, I am working on sweatshirt stuff and will have an email out soon with a proof and price so that I can get official orders from everyone interested. Thanks for your patience.

September 17th, 2015 - O'Fallon Invitational
Parents,
Attached, are the ONGOING results and the POSTED results from tonight's meet in O'Fallon. The ONGOING results are cumulative for the year and include team results as well as many other pieces of information. The POSTED results are the straight forward individual and team results in order (simplified).
Thanks to all the parents that came out to support the kids tonight! Judging by the number of kids that went home with parents, I'd say we had a large group of supporters. Our boys came away with a team victory tonight as they dominated the race. We had our top 5 scorers in the first 10 places and 7 finishers in the first 21 places. The boys have begun to pack it up nicely. They were led by a 2-3 place finish from Eli Ward and 7th grader Kyle Stewart, respectively. The girls took 2nd place behind O'Fallon Carriel. Our girls ran well, and I am certain that they are still not running to the best of their potential. We have several girls that have a lot better running ahead of them this season and you will see big progress from this group. Our girls were led by Colleen Sliment who joined Eli with a 2nd place finish overall. Behind her was 6th grader Jade Goulding in 5th place and 7th grader Laurin Lunk in 7th place! Way to go boys and girls!
Next week, we travel to Edwardsville on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd. That meet has Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Open races. It will be a bit different from races we do the rest of the year. More information to follow Monday. Attached is a flier with information and times.
Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks!

September 10th, 2015 - Alton Invitational
Attached are the results forms that I use throughout the season to track our runners time and place. Attached you'll find an "ONGOING" excel form that tracks everything throughout the season in a cumulative format. This form will allow you to see all of the results in one file from first to last race. You'll also find attached a "POSTED" excel form. This displays the results for each meet in a much more simplified format. The runners are listed in order by finishing time. I also post these results on my bulletin board at school for the kids to see. It allows everyone to see how they finished on the team. This becomes helpful when determining the varsity lineup from meet to meet. It also helps kids to see what they need to do to improve and possibly earn a spot on varsity. Let me know if you have any questions about these forms or the results they contain.
You'll notice that the runners in the OPEN race don't have a race place, because their finishing place is not tracked and nor is their time by the hosting school like the varsity races are. I have to track this myself. I don't track finishing places for the open races, but I do track their times so that they can be compared to varsity finishing times. I hope that makes sense. For future reference, that is how it usually is for all meets.
Our boys team took home 3rd place out of 19 teams. They were led by Eli Ward who took 9th place individually. The girls team took home 4th place out of 17 teams and they were led by Colleen Sliment who took 8th place individually. Congratulations to both teams for running well on one of the toughest courses we will see all year. For their first meet, I was happy to see them do so well. I do believe both sides have plenty of room for improvement and will see more success the rest of the season.
Just a couple friendly reminders. If your runner is going to ride home from the meet with anyone but their parent/guardian they must have a written note from that parent/guardian stating who they give permission to ride home with and that note must be signed by Dr. Schwartz before being given to me. ALSO, if you plan to take your runner home from the meet in lieu of riding the bus home, you must sign them out on the designated clipboard which will be left on the ground at the team "camp". I will not have the sign-out sheet with me. You can sign them out as soon as you arrive so that you can leave whenever you need to without waiting on me. Thanks for your help with this.
I still have not received confirmation about our first meet being rescheduled for next week. I'm going to find out by the end of the day tomorrow so we know going into the weekend. I'll be sure to send that information out.
NOTE: I attached a copy of our team picture that was taken today before we left school. Feel free to use it however you'd like.
Practice tomorrow as usual! Thank you all for your support. It's great to see so many fans supporting their runners and teammates at the meets.
As always feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Thanks,
Coach Sebestik
